Soaring

There have been times when I believed I was battling depression. But just today, while trying to take pictures of hawks, I came to the realization that it is a deep longing that consumes me…not depression. A deep yearning for God. He tugs on my heartstrings until my desire is so strong I want my own wings to stretch out, so I can soar like those graceful raptors that hovered over head, circling me. It is the deep longing to leave the constraints of this dimension, and knowing I can’t yet, that leaves my heart heavy and featherless. Yes, the Lord satisfies me early with His presence and graces my life with His love and protection, but it only leaves me longing for more…
