Peaceful Assurance

Standard

With all that is happening in the world and here in the States, I find calm assurance in God’s Written Word…may you find the peace and love of God stated in this Psalm. We have nothing to fear if our trust is in the Lord!

Psalm 3

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
But Thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill. Selah.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for Thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; Thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: Thy blessing is upon Thy people. Selah. (King James)

Rosh HaShanah-Shanah Tovah Umetukah

Standard

Rosh HaShanah begins tonight at sundown in Israel. It is the beginning of their calendar year 5771. Today is the first day of the seventh month of Tishri. In Leviticus 23:24, God says the first day shall be a Shabbat or Sabbath ushered in with the blowing of trumpets or shofars. Yom Teruah (Day of Blowing). Many Israelis will be blessing each other with the greeting, Shanah Tovah Umetukah– A Good and Sweet Year. It is also the first day of the 10 Days of Awe in which many Jews will examine their hearts and ask for forgiveness for any wrong doings they’ve committed during the past year in preparation for Yom Kippur.
Shanah Tovah Umetukah…May the Lord Bless Israel this coming year with prosperity and peace!

Accepting the Unexpected

Standard

No matter how much we plan and design and scheme and manipulate our gardens, sometimes things just spring up and make themselves at home. Usually they are called weeds, and we put on our battle gear and go to war until they are eliminated from our rows of perfect produce. That is, if we are diligent and catch them before they take over!!
And then there are unexpected visitors who delight us with their presence, and we haven’t the heart to evict them. This year our wild Oswego Tea, sometimes called Monarda or Bee Balm, made such an appearance, and I wasn’t about to pull it out…so it grew up beside my Purple Cone flower bed and thrived. Most likely I’ll transplant it next year, but it did no harm and graced my garden with a myriad of blooms…much to the approval of my hummingbirds!
There are times in our lives when the unexpected happens, and we have to make a choice to either accept it as a blessing, or to fight it and hope it goes away. The tricky part is discerning what is the better course for the situation and for us, and that comes through prayer and faith in the Lord’s leading. Listening to His voice and searching out His Word makes it easier to distinguish between the nuisance of “weeds” in the gardens of our lives, or the blessings of “blossoms”!

Deceptive Reflections

Standard

There are those who boast they are Christians and love Jesus but are a mere reflection cast upon the murky waters of deception and falsehoods. Paul speaks of these people in II Corinthians 11:3-4. His fear was that the Corinthians would be beguiled as Eve was by Satan in the garden. That their minds would be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Paul was afraid they would give heed to someone who might come along preaching another Jesus, presenting another spirit other than the Holy Spirit, and another gospel other than the true gospel they had received. Again in Galatians 1:6-9, Paul makes it clear that anyone preaching another gospel is accursed. Those are strong words!
And yet, we are witnessing that very thing happening today through charasmatic leaders who preach another Jesus. Arm yourselves with the knowledge of truth presented to you in the Scriptures. Know the Lord. Know what He says. If you don’t get sound teaching in your church, ask the Lord to teach you through the Holy Spirit… I John 2:3.  He will open your eyes of understanding. Study to show yourself approved, II Timothy 2:15. It will enable you will to recognize heresy and false teachings, which things are coming at us through the media, through popular novels, through movies, through televangelists as well as being rampant on the internet. Be discerning and keep your eyes on your Lord and Savior, Jesus-Yeshua HaMashiach, and He will show you His way of righteousness…Psalm 86

Captured by God’s Beauty Surrounding…

Standard

A lowly moth on my rosemary plant…but oh so beautifully painted by God’s Creative Hand! Dainty, intricate wings splashed with contrasting oranges and browns against the delicate yellow body..the shading and lines a one-of-a-kind design. Moths are not usually counted among the beautiful in the insect world, but this was a rare find, quite by accident, and one I had to capture on film.
There are times when I am overwhelmed by God’s creative genius…plants, insects, birds, animals and the most complex and amazing of all: humans! Did you know that He has numbered all the members of your body down to the hairs on your head and keeps record of them? You were designed by purpose, on purpose and for a purpose! Even if you are a twin or one of a multiple birth, you are unique! There is no one else like you…and God’s love for you is more than amazing…it is as unique as you are. Never think you are insignificant or unimportant. God has a plan for you, and He invites you into His heart to search it out…

Trusting God for Triumph ThroughTrials and Trails

Standard

Trails are full of adventure and excitement…they lead to somewhere, to something, to someone. One never knows what he or she will find around the bend, or over the hill, or down in the valley and that’s part of the anticipation…finding out what lies ahead. But sometimes, trails can be full of unpleasant surprises and hidden dangers, and that can lead to trials! A trial pops up when you least expect it and leads you off the beaten path, leaving you all alone in unfamiliar territory. Even experienced hikers can run into a trial on the trail. It’s when you find yourself in a that kind of situation that you most often will truly “find yourself”. Trails enrich your life with new and exciting experiences, while trials will put a damper on the experiences in your life. So if you find yourself lost in a trial, turn to the One who can turn you around and get you back on the right trail!
