Outward Show or Inward Identity with Jesus?

Standard

I love birds!! Living on an 85 acre farm, surrounded by over 27 acres of woods, I’ve spotted 37 different birds that make their home here. And there are more I hope to be able to identify. Birds are easy to recognize by their markings,  their songs, or their antics, like the Grosbeak at my kitchen window feeder. Though he has a mouth full of suet, you can still see the thickness of his beak, but what makes him identifiable as a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, are the red feathers below his neck. There is simply no mistaking him for any other bird. His is an outward characteristic that is immediately noticeable…which made me wonder about our role in society as Christians.
Do our characteristics and traits, and the way we conduct ourselves make us identifiable as ones who follow Jesus Christ? Are we in the world but not of it? Are we set apart unto holiness? We don’t have to be in bondage by adhering to a strict code of dress or lifestyle for people to see that we follow a different set of standards. Just something to ponder…

Will Your Lawyer Be With You When You Stand Before God??

Standard

from Ezekiel33 Graphics
Think about it…one day we will all have to stand before the most awesome Being in all the universe. We will have to give account of all we’ve thought, of all we’ve said, of all we’ve done. Anything we’ve looked at, anything we’ve read, anything we’ve passed on to others. All of our deeds, all of our gossip, all of our backbiting, all of our murmuring, all of our complaining, all of our anger, hatred, envy, lies.  Are you feeling uneasy? Is this making you a little nervous?  If you’ve given your heart and mind to Jesus, it shouldn’t. If you are covered by His shed blood, you should be rejoicing that He is your advocate before the throne of God! If you are walking in fellowship with the most exulted Being, in whom dwells all the fullness of God, then you know you can ask for forgiveness and receive God’s grace and mercy! You know you can call upon Him and He will answer. He will heal. He will provide. He will protect. He will keep you from the evil one. And you know with certainty He will come again to receive you unto Himself. He is the Alpha and Omega-the Beginning and the End, the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world and the coming Lion of the Tribe of Judah. He is worthy of all praise and power and dominion and glory for ever and ever!  Amen! And I know I want Him by my side!!

White Horse Rider: Carol’s Assurance

Standard

Don and Carol Mehl are special friends…some of you might know them. Perhaps what you don’t know is that Carol has been through hell on earth with physical attacks against her heart and body, resulting in multiple surgeries and constant doctor visits, endless medication changes, and a life falling short of “quality”, like many of us are privileged to enjoy each day. For three years her health has deteriorated, and she has battled discouragement, until early Saturday morning, when she could hardly wait to tell Don about what had happened during the night. This is the story she told to Him:

“While she was praying at bedtime, she said, “Lord, You know that I’ve been through so much over the past three years.  There’s been so much pain and uncertainty.  My physical and emotional needs are great – perhaps greater now than ever before.  It seems that many have forgotten about me, because they don’t ever call or come to visit.  I trust in You, I lean on You, and You speak to me through Your Word.  You’re my all in all, but I need to know that You still love me.”
“Please tell me that You still do.  I need something I can feel, something I can see, something I can hear, or something I can touch that will tell me that You haven’t abandoned me – for I love You so much and long to see You.”
Carol told me that one of the times during the night when she was awake, she suddenly saw a rider on a white horse on the far side of her large bedroom.  She couldn’t  see the rider’s face clearly because both the rider and the horse had a glow about them making details impossible to see.  Her immediate thought was that Jesus was coming!!
Carol told me she quickly sat up in bed and called out, “Jesus…Jesus…Jesus!”  At that point the rider and horse came closer to her – almost close enough for her to reach out and touch.  Then, suddenly they were gone.
After sharing that story with me she said, “Don, I know that was an answer to my prayer last night.  He still loves me because Jesus Himself showed up to give me assurance.  And, the white horse?  That told me He’s coming back very soon, just as told in Revelation 19!!!”
I took her by the hand and said, “Yes, He loves you and He always will – and He is coming back soon.”  Then, our tears began to flow.

Carol is absolutely certain she wasn’t dreaming because she remembers looking over at our dog to see if Betsy was still sleeping – hoping she wouldn’t bark.”

Please pray for this precious couple. Don is a co-author with me on The Israel Connection blog. He has all the responsibilities of the home plus taking care of Carol, and he has his own health problems along with battling discouragement at times. I don’t know about you, but I was crying and jumping for joy when I read this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help Me Spread the Word about Snuff Films

Standard

Many of you might not know, as I did not until today, that there are not just porn films featuring children, there are brutal heinous films which show child pornography and torture of small…to the age of two…children–unto death. That this takes place drives me to tears even as I write this. As despicable and cruel as this is, the demand for these films by the sick, demented creatures I refuse to call human, is beyond my comprehension. No child should ever have to go through abuse of any kind, let alone sexual abuse of such savage magnitude that it results in death.
Please help me spread awareness of this for the purpose of initiating prayer for these innocents and prayer against the demonic perpetrators of such disgusting acts and those, equally possessed by demons, who pay to watch.
That we are living in the days of Noah, just before Christ’s coming, is becoming more and more apparent. I simply cannot go my merry way and turn a blind eye, now that I know this kind of thing happens and is escalating. God have mercy. At least pray with me.
Matthew 18:1-7
1.At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2.And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3.And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4.Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5.And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6.But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7.Woe unto the world because of offenses! for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh!

Matthew 19:14
14.But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Spring! Flowers! Hope!

Standard

It’s amazing how, when the sun shines and spring flowers push their way up through the remnants of last fall and winter and burst into bloom in spite of the temperatures, that my heart hopes, regardless of the headlines and the circumstances of life. There is hope in the renewal of spring, along with the promise of new beginnings, even in the face of danger looming on the horizon. And, if we gaze upon the faces of such beauties, we can see a peaceful trust in their Creator. They, along with the rocks, would shout out praises to Him, if we would fail to do so. When storms come, they bend with the wind and drink up the life-giving rain with thankfulness. When the sun shines, they lift their heads and bask in the warmth.
Jesus said we should be more like them, and take no thought for tomorrow. They trust the Lord God…how much more should we, who are made in His likeness!! Matthew 6:25-34
