A Panting Heart

Psalm 42 is one of my favorite Scriptures and song to sing…
As the deer pants after the water brooks, so pants my heart after Thee, O God. My soul thirsts for the Living God: when shall I come and appear before Thee?

David’s heart was one that pleased God. Even when he sinned, and no small sins did he commit, he immediately confessed them and asked God to set his heart aright. We tend to project the notion that when one becomes a Christian, one must become perfect. The world looks at us under a microscope, searching for flaws and using them to discredit us as believers. This is so contrary to Scriptures, which say over and over that we are on a journey to perfection. And along the way, when we sin, though we are to strive to follow in the sinless footsteps of our Lord, He is our advocate before the Father’s throne. We need to realize that we have the priviledge of being able to ask for forgiveness and to know that God is pleased to blot out our transgressions through the shed blood of Yeshua, our Lord and Savior!
May we seek to have a heart like David’s…

  1. That is one of my favorite songs, too. I love the picture.Thank you for the reminder that God loves us and wants to be close to us ‘while we are yet sinners’.He is so forgiving and full of mercy.
