I took this photo at the Potawatomi Zoo one day. This majestic beast just reclined on his rock ledge and posed. Every once in a while he would look me in the eye, and I would just stare and tell him how beautiful he was.
Every time I look at a lion, I think of the Lord–Yeshua–Messiah. He is called the Lion of the Tribe of Judah in Revelation 5:5 He is the only one worthy to open the book in heaven sealed with seven seals. But it is Jacob’s prophesy over Judah in Genesis 49:8-12 that gives meaning to this phrase:
8Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
Judah’s line did become royalty, made famous by King David. Yeshua claims His lineage through the tribe of Judah. He IS the lawgiver. He IS the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He IS the King of Kings!
He is my King . . . is He yours?
In His Love,
Ah… so majestic…and rightly so. I love your thoughts, Mid.
