From whence comes this darkness that has overshadowed the world? If you want the true and honest answer, it would be as a result of the fall of Lucifer, the highest of God’s order of created angels, who, being endowed with unsurpassed power and beauty, sought to usurp the throne of God. Having been defeated, he entered the Garden of Eden and tempted the first human couple to disobey God’s command to not eat of the Tree of Life. He and his minions later polluted the human genome which resulted in the catastrophic worldwide flood, leaving only Noah and seven of his family to survive and restart the human population.

Now referred to as Satan, his attempts to destroy the coming of the promised Savior are recorded in nearly every book of the Old Testament, and on into the new, including, trying to tempt Jesus to deny His Sonship and worship him. And so this demonic agenda has continued for two thousand years, with the darkness becoming more pronounced and evil. This is where we come in as Lights!

The Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 2:5-15 ~ “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

We know that ultimately, the darkness of evil will be banished, and its perpetrator will be forever punished in the lake of fire. We who remain faithful to the Triune God, will be instrumental in the foretold fall of Satan by our shining witness and testimony! Light dispels darkness ~ be that Light!
