Of Clouds, and Glory, and Global Warnings . . .

cloud sunset 1 cloud sunset 2 cloud sunset 3Clouds intrigue me, not just because they are fascinating and mysteriously beautiful, and at times fearsome in power, but because they are intimately associated with God and especially His Son, Jesus Christ. Clouds are said to be God’s covering whenever He enters our finite dimension. Jesus, after His death (on our behalf), and resurrection, was taken up in clouds, and promised to return in like manner. No wonder He exhorts us to “look up” when we see the events taking place He warned of in Matthew 24! While it’s true that these “events” have happened in some form or another down through the ages, they are now like the birth pains of a woman in labor ~ increasing in intensity and frequency. Natural disasters around the world right now are unprecedented, and I believe, as a certain pastor put it (JD Farag), this is God’s Global Warning! God’s warnings are done more in love, than in punishment, so as to get our attention. “Some love!”, many scoff, but His love is like that of a Father who is trying to keep us from a tragedy with consequences that reach far into eternity.

We need to take what’s happening seriously, and make our salvation secure by believing in the Lord, confessing our sins, and asking for forgiveness. And if we are already Believers, we need to stop playing church and get our lives right. Too many so-called-pastors are preaching a different gospel, and not teaching the true Word of God. There is no excuse to not know, or to excuse away The Truth . . . time is too short!

The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.

Job 22:14  Thick clouds veil Him, so He does not see us as He goes about in the vaulted heavens.’

For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near— a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations.

Psalm 18:11                                                                                                                                         He made darkness His covering, His canopy around Him— the dark rain clouds of the sky.

Sing to God, sing in praise of His name, extol Him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before Him—His name is the Lord.
Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
“At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
“Look, He is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of Him.” So shall it be! Amen
